Starting in April 1987, Indus has grown into one of the successful, reputed and quality publishers in India, in scholarly, reference and general books. In scholarly and reference genres, we publish books in the subjects of: Agriculture; Art and Culture; Botany and Plant Science; Economics; Environment; Forestry and Wildlife; Himalayan Studies; History and Archaeology; Philosophy and Religion; Political Science; Sociology; Travel and Tourism; and Trekking and Climbing. Indus, in fact, is now the single largest publisher in India, perhaps in the world, for books on the Himalayas. Under Himalayan Studies, we publish books on all aspects covering the regions of Himachal Pradesh, Uttaranchal (Garhwal and Kumaun), Kashmir and Ladakh and the North-East or the Eastern Himalaya.

In 2003, Indus diversified its publishing activities into general paperbacks for the mass-market in the subjects of: Adventure and Travel; Body and Mind; Business; Career Development; Child-Care and Parenting; Food and Drink; Health and Fitness; and Self-help and How-to.

Welcome to our new website which tells you about us and our products in detail. All the books published by us have been dedicated a separate page which gives all the relevant details including the table of contents, about the author(s) and the image of the front cover (and back cover in some books). Other books of related interest have also been suggested by us with each title. Most of our books are of multi-disciplinary nature and hence you would find them listed in more than one subject category. Currently, we are not offering online payment system on our website. You may, however, order them via email or post or over telephone. You may also order these with your local bookseller or buy them online from www.indusbooks.com (our worldwide online bookstore) or most of the popular bookstores on the internet like amazon.com, etc.

Indus International, our export division, was started in 1998 mainly to promote our own titles in the foreign market. However, encouraged by a good response, it soon started exporting other Indian publishers' books as well, and grew into a trusted name in the supply of Indian books. In the early years of its operations, Indus International made its presence on the World Wide Web and today it attracts a fair amount of traffic to its online book store for Indian books.
