 About the book...

Tawang district in Arunachal Pradesh is a mountainous region and is known for its natural beauty. But most of the areas remain inaccessible due to prolonged rainfall and foggy conditions. The area is mostly inhabited by the Monpas who follow Buddhism religion.
The aim of this book is to show the outside world a glimpse of the beauty of the area as well as the culture, Tradition and religious aspects of the Monpas of Tawang himalaya. The people of this area are very caring, religious-minded and well-mannered.
While working as Divisional forest officer in Tawang, the author moved around the district and interacted with the common people and saw them from close. He always desired to reach those people who are hidden behind the far away mountains. This book is about the people of tall mountains about whom the outside world knows little. Section I of the book deals with the basic information of the people, religion, culture and places, and Section II deals with the Myths, beliefs and ritual practices of the Monpas, and also describes the natural beauties of the area.
