 About the book...

India’s domestic tourism industry is growing at a fast rate which is a healthy signal as it will lead to infrastructural development. However, it has not been able to pressurize the industry to adapt the culture of customer orientation. As a result tourists always remain at receiving end and are fleeced almost everywhere. Till date no comprehensive legislation exists even to ensure rights and safety of tourists. These pressing issues led to the idea of organizing a seminar on Domestic Tourism by the Kurukshetra University to discuss the problems under one forum and to suggest solutions.
The book contains 22 papers written by practitioners, academicians and researchers in the field of tourism. The book is divided into four sections. The first section pertains to domestic tourism in India and the articles analyze it from different perspectives. Second section covers some of the topical, current and pertinent issues of domestic tourism. Section three entails the most important issue in service industry i.e. human resources. It thoroughly deals with management and development of human resources to get the best output from tourism organizations. The fourth section has micro-studies on domestic tourism in selected areas/pockets and gives a vivid account of varied heritage, resources and tourism potential of our land.
This book should prove to be useful for students, researchers, planners and tourism industry.
