Dr. S.S. Negi belongs to the Himachal
Pradesh cadre of the Indian Forest Service. He has
more than 100 books on forestry, environmental sciences
and Himalayan Studies to his credit.
Dr. Negi has held important positions under the Central
Government. These include Associate Professor, Indira
Gandhi National Forest Academy, Dehradun;
Assistant Director General, ICFRE; State
Project Director, IWDP (World Bankfunded);
and Member Secretary, H.P. State Pollution Control
Board. He has been associated with many foreign unicersities
including Munich University, Germany and Ballarat
University, Australia. Presently, he is Director
of the prestigious Forest Research Institute, Dehradun
and also the ex-officio Vice chancellor of the FRI
Deemed University.
