The
preparation of the Chamba Gazetteer was commenced
in 1903 by Mr. H.A. Rose. Largely aided by Dr. J.
Hutchison of the Church of Scotland Mission, Chamba,
a mass of material of text was collected. Dr. Hutchison
revised the text and the present work is the result
of his labours. In addition to re-writing the text,
Dr. Hutchison added a large amount of fresh and interesting
matter, which has entailed much care and research.
The articles on Archaeology, Geology and Fauna were
done by Dr. J. Ph. Vogel, C.A. Mcmahom, and colonel
C.H.T. Marshall. The artilcles on Botany, Ferns and
forests were prepared, respectively, by J.R. Drummond,
C.S., J.C. McDonell, Imperial Forest service and C.G.
Trevor, Conservator of Forests, Chamba. The contribution
on the Dialects of the state is the work of the Rev.
T. Grahame Bailey, B.D., Church of Scotland Mission,
Wazirabad.>^
