 About the book...

The Himalayas are the greatest and one of the magnificent features on the earth and are a world heritage. For centuries, the splendour and majesty of the mighty Himalayas have fascinated and attracted people from all walks of life and from all over the world.
The abode of the saints and rishis, the Himalayas boast of an invaluable wealth of species of flora and fauna and are a source of life to the human civilization. Smt. Indira Gandhi once memorably observed that for centuries Himalayas have protected us, and now we must protect them.
This book, for the first time, brings together the writings of some of the greatest living Himalayan celebrities. It carries interesting and informative articles by experts and enthusiasts. It not only tries to explore the various factors that can contribute to the growth of adventure and tourism in the Himalayas but also emphasises the need to spread awareness about the preservation of the Himalayan ecology and culture.
This book is a landmark presentation in the landmark year 2005 which marks the 40th anniversary of the historic Indian Everest Expedition of 1965, led by Capt. M.S. Kohli which put nine Indians atop the world's highest peak.
