 About the book...

The book presents interplay of Society and Polity in the context of emerging ethnic identity consolidation in Mizoram. The conflicting political pressures resulting in tribalization and detribalization processes in the face of nation-building in India is a result of juxtaposition of nation and state, political nationalism and cultural nationalism on the part of the dominant group as is amply demonstrated by Mizoram case. The secessionist movement has been, in fact, a movement for asserting cultural identity and self--determination rather than political sovereign state.
