 About the book...

The Himalaya with preponderant mountainchains are inhabited by very interesting people with splendid religious history. They hug their primitiveness as much as they embrace the pinnacles of civilization. They present a rare blend of the old and the new. Their life speaks of their hoary past.
The western Himalaya is the home of Vedic saints, gods and goddesses and of god-fearing and honest people who have all respect for all the religions. Their old conventions have never stood in their way of progress in this scientifically dominated world. Their gods never fought for religion. Their fight was always aimed at promoting peace and harmony and feeling of mutual trust among the people.
The present book deals with their folklore, beliefs and supersititions, rites and rituals, myths and mythology, legends and legendary tales and conventions and traditions. Besides interesting legends and myths, Birth-death rituals, Dwelling rituals, Festival rituals and Devta Institution and its Rituals discussed in the book are worth reading.
