In Himachal Pradesh storytelling is a way of life.
Everyday conversation is replete with anecdotes,
tales and meta-phors.
This collection of short stories trans-lated from
Hindi (different dialects of Pahari) presents ten
noteworthy stories that are likely to appeal to a
reader encountering literature from this hill state
for the first time as well as to the reader who is
familiar with the culture of the western Himalaya.
This book presents powerful and moving stories of
Himachal Pradesh which provide an insight into the
cultural traditions, social structure, religious
beliefs, and the hardships of the hill people in its
many colours and flavours. The stories are a window
into the very homes and imagination of the people of
Himachal..
