This
book is an attempt at interpreting the hitherto lesser
known aspects of Himachal Pradesh. It is designed
to collect the scattered material relating to the
society, culture and economy of Himachal Pradesh from
remote past to the present times. It brings to light
many rare and interesting aspects which are generlly
not known.
There is a general impresson among many that before
its formation (1948) Himachal had no social or cultural
unity. The present work clears up these misconceptions
and examines from facts of history the constant, rich
and fruitful socio-cultural history of the state.
This book is expected to cater to the needs of those
who desire to delve into socio-cultural aspects of
Himachal Pradesh. A detailed bibliography and an index
added to this book will be helpful to the readers.
