Dr.
Manoj Jreat, born in an agriculturist family
in Kotgarh in Shimla district, completed his Masters
degree in Geography from Punjab University, and Ph.D.
from School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru
University. Since then, he is actively engaged in teaching
Geography at college level in Himachal Pradesh and is
currently associated with a variety of research programmes
related to tourism in the mountain environment. Dr.
Jreat?s academic interests converge on sustainable and
alternative tourism as a source of livelihood in the
Himalayan region. He has authored numerous articles
and commentaries on the various issues of tourism, which
are regularly published in national newspapers and journals.
