 About the book...

Leaving behind the aesthetics and usefulness that goes with it, the trees may be regarded as one of the greatest gift of nature to the human race. And this gift has practically made us possible to breath fresh air everyday.
Considered as one of the oldest acquaintance to mankind, the trees are in every sense the true “old faithfuls”. Ancient sages of India have used bhurjapatra (the bark of an Indian birch, possibly Betula utilis) as a form of writing medium upon which some of the greatest thoughts were imprinted. The contribution of trees in the navigational history did make possible the opening up of new horizons and making us understand the limits of our world.
This small compendium of Himalayan trees is an extension of these very marvels of nature and in the process covers a place which is quite renowned for its resplendent floral wealth-the Sikkim Himalaya.
